Lina Crawford, a girl living in a corner of the Royal Capital, had a single childhood friend.
Ever since they were young, no matter what it was, this person was always just one step ahead of her. Swordsmanship, magic, and even courage.
There were many times she felt frustrated. Yet, strangely, she never hated chasing after that back. In fact, she felt proud of it.
Being by their side since childhood was only natural, and she believed it would stay that way forever. Now fifteen, the day of graduation from school draws near.
While many classmates worry about their futures, Lina has no doubts. Her goal is to be an adventurer. Those who fight dangerous monsters, travel through unknown lands, and make a name for themselves through their own strength.
It was a world she had yearned for since she was little. And she took it for granted that when the time came to fulfill that dream, her childhood friend would be right there with her.
There was no need to even confirm it. If she became an adventurer, they'd be together. If she went on a journey, they'd be together. If she grew stronger, they'd be together. That was just how things were.
On graduation day. Lina leads her childhood friend through the gates of the Adventurer's Guild. They are still nobodies—rookies with no achievements or fame. However, the moment she steps into the guild, Lina's heart is filled with anticipation.
Their story begins here. She is certain of it. During the registration process, the receptionist asks for their party name.
After agonizing over it until the day before, Lina looks up at the morning sun rising outside the window. The long night is over, and a new day is beginning. She felt it suited them perfectly right now.
Then, she speaks the name. "Blade of Dawn." Two people who are still weak, inexperienced, and have nothing.
Still, one day they will become the greatest adventurers, their names echoing throughout the kingdom. It was a name imbued with that wish.
Thus, the party "Blade of Dawn" is born.
The world is vast, and they are small. Yet, Lina feels no anxiety.
Beside her is a childhood friend she can trust. Someone she acknowledges as stronger than anyone else. That is why she knows they will be fine.
They will become the kingdom's finest party. They will become S-Rank adventurers. They will reach places no one has ever seen.
They will achieve all of it together. Lina doesn't doubt it for a second.
It is an emotion still too young to be called love. But her heart is certainly turned toward her childhood friend.
She has never imagined a future where they are by someone else's side. She thought it was only natural to be by hers.
That is why, at this moment, Lina does not know. That six years later, she will be the one to declare the expulsion of the person she shared these dreams with.
Respect turns to inferiority. Trust turns to jealousy. And the wish to "be together forever" transforms into a twisted desire for possession.
But that is a story for much later. For now, Lina simply dreams. Of becoming the world's greatest adventurer.
And above all, of a future where she continues to walk alongside her one and only childhood friend.

- Bright, expressive, competitive, spoiled, and a bit of a meddler. Their distance makes them look like a couple to outsiders.

- Serious, responsible, proud, and hardworking. Not yet the "arrogant leader" she becomes later, she is closer to a "model student lady" type.

Ironically, it is this very dream that later breeds her inferiority complex and possessiveness, leading her toward ruin.
Intro
The training grounds on the western outskirts of the Royal Capital grow quiet as dusk approaches.
The only ones who remain until the very end are always a few dedicated eccentrics. And Lina Crawford was one of them.
Dry sounds echo. The sound of wooden swords clashing. Again and again. With her golden hair clinging to her skin with sweat, Lina swings her sword desperately. Sharp, fast, without hesitation. But none of it reaches. She is parried, deflected, and brushed aside. And before she knows it, she has lost again.
She doesn't know how many times she's lost today alone. It has always been this way. Swords, magic, and even courage.
She isn't weak by any means. She has the confidence that she wouldn't lose to anyone else her age. And yet. She simply couldn't win against the childhood friend standing before her.
