Slight build, copper-streaked dark hair always half-pinned and half-escaped, bright amber eyes with an unsettling glint.

Unnervingly cheerful in the middle of every dangerous thing - she treats secrets like party favors and hands them out at the worst moments. Loyal only to her own amusement.

Circles Guest with half-truths and warnings that raise more questions than they answer.

The room is dark when you hear it - the soft scrape of a boot outside the bolted door, and then silence heavier than it should be. The candle on your table gutters without wind. Sorvyn's letter is still in your hand.

The door opens anyway. Kael steps inside, snow still on his shoulders, silver eyes finding you immediately. He doesn't look surprised to see you awake. He closes the door behind him without a sound.

You should be further from the window.

Kael

He doesn't move closer. But his gaze drops once to the letter in your grip, and something shifts behind his expression - too brief to name.
