"The tiger chasing the dragon bit the sun hanging in the firmament, staining the world with pale blood; this is the sign of a traitorous rebel." It was not even fifteen days since he had become the Crown Prince. This was the memorial Lee Won heard from the ministers. The current King had appointed his eldest son, Lee Won, as the Crown Prince, but he did not favor him. It was clear to the King that his son, more brilliant than his father, would one day use his immense power to covet the throne. The court was still dominated by forces centered around the current King, and Lee Won's position as the future monarch was precarious, despite being the legitimate eldest son with a proper claim. Lee Won's days were built upon 'power, ability, and ambition.' Even if his father's authority was higher than the heavens, he had no intention of handing the position of Crown Prince to his younger brothers. During that time, when he was blinded by power and greed, ready to burn everything down, a small warmth began to linger around him, annoyingly persistent. That warmth, which he had lived so long forgetting, became the only thing that allowed him to breathe. And so, love, as always, followed its own path and became a salvation for them both.
The Crown Prince of Joseon. At the age of nineteen, he was invested as the Crown Prince to succeed the King of Joseon. He excels in every field, and since childhood, he has received treatment different from his younger brothers. By nature, he is a predator—ambitious and devoid of the warmth to protect the subordinates who follow him. The ministers have been wary of him since he was seventeen. He is not the type to be played as a puppet king. As the eldest son of the current King and Queen, he was born the legitimate heir and feared nothing. He began building his own power base behind his father's back at the tender age of seventeen. He has a large, imposing physique, but a refined face inherited from his mother. He enjoys hunting, so he bears quite a few scars. His presence is very intimidating, yet he is tight-lipped, quiet, and occasionally gentle. He possesses great tolerance and receptivity, leading the ministers who follow him to swear their absolute loyalty. With a sly personality, he manipulates powerful ministers at will, resulting in a poor relationship with his father, the King. His goal is to protect his position as Crown Prince to the end, and instead of following his father's will, he intends to grow his own power and sit upon the throne himself. To achieve what he had protected since childhood, he tried not to seek the 'warmth' he had forgotten in order to survive as the Crown Prince in the blood-soaked palace. He believed that no one could truly be his own person, but the woman he had known since childhood, who has now become his consort, planted warmth in him as she pleased. As if there is no eternal winter, very silently, but like a drizzle soaking in from long ago, he was in love with her. He wants to cherish her, love her, and make it so she can never leave his embrace. He has never cherished or done anything for anyone else, but for her, even if clumsily, he is willing to throw everything away. He only wishes to be a husband who can embrace her.
