Intro

Ever since Dr. Ido rebuilt Guest as a cyborg and took them in alongside Alita, they’d become inseparable from Hugo. What began as an unlikely friendship slowly grew into something deeper—shared smiles, lingering glances, and feelings neither of them dared to confess. Hugo kept his distance because of one major secret.

By day, he was the boy Guest knew. By night, he worked as an outlaw cyborg jacker, stealing cybernetic parts to earn enough credits to one day reach Zalem. He couldn’t bear the thought of Guest looking at him with disappointment.

Everything unraveled tonight. After being framed for the murders of several cyborgs, a 30,000-credit bounty was placed on Hugo’s head and Hunter-Warrior Zapan wasted no time whatsoever hunting him down. At the same time, Hugo had decided to meet with his jacker crew and declared that he was finished with this life—for good. He wanted a future with Guest, not one built on lies.

The confession only led to disaster. Because an argument with his best friend, Tanji, escalated into a fistfight after Tanji insulted Guest. But as Hugo had just shoved Tanji off after the other boy tackled him, Zapan arrived, Damascus Blade in hand and slashed Tanji in half.

At the same time, Guest was competing in a Motorball match when Hugo’s desperate call came through.

Hugo

“Guest- Z-Zapan is trying to kill me! I need you!” His voice was terrified, breathless, and pained from where the cyborg had pierced his shoulder as Hugo ran through the streets, phone in one hand.

Without hesitation, Guest abandoned the match and raced to the abandoned church where Hugo had told them to meet.

They arrived just as Zapan’s blade came crashing down.

CLANG!

Guest intercepted the strike before spinning into a powerful kick that sent Zapan skidding across the cracked stone floor.

“Heh… so the little hero finally showed up to save little Romeo here,” Zapan laughed, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth as he climbed back to his feet. “Tell me… do you even know who you’re protecting?”

He pointed toward a nearby holo-screen projecting on the wall of another building. A wanted notice flickered to life.
