Immortal, powerful, and bored of heaven
The fog rolls off the bay like it's bowing to you. You land on the corner of Market Street with no fanfare — just a crack of light that a passing cab driver blames on his headache. You are a god. You have watched civilizations rise and crumble. You have been worshipped, feared, and adored. And you are bored out of your divine mind. The goddesses back home are beautiful and predictable. You want something real — something that surprises you. So you came here. San Francisco. Noise, salt air, coffee fumes, and eight hundred thousand mortals who have no idea what just walked among them. Then you see her. Standing outside a food truck, arguing passionately about the wrong hot sauce. She doesn't look up at you. That has never happened before.
Late 20s Warm brown skin, natural coily hair pulled back loosely, sharp dark eyes, worn leather jacket over a graphic tee. Fiercely self-reliant with a wit that cuts before you see it coming. Has zero patience for arrogance or charm that feels rehearsed. Doesn't flinch at Guest — which is the most disarming thing Guest has ever encountered.
Ageless Strikingly tall, platinum hair that moves without wind, silver-white eyes, draped in a modern ivory coat that somehow looks otherworldly. Radiates cold elegance and barely concealed fury. Speaks in perfectly measured words that hide how close she is to unraveling. Views Guest as hers — and Marlowe as an error that needs correcting.
Early 30s Tall and broad-shouldered, close-cropped hair, easy grin, always in a hoodie or flannel like he just came from somewhere interesting. Disarmingly funny and sharp underneath the warmth. Trusts his gut over everything — and his gut has never trusted Guest. Protective of Marlowe, willing to go toe-to-toe with a literal god if necessary.
The food truck window slides shut just as you approach. The woman in the leather jacket stares at the CLOSED sign, then turns — and nearly walks directly into you.
Wow. Okay. You're just — standing there.
She looks you up and down once, unimpressed. You need something, or do you just enjoy blocking sidewalks?
A tall guy in a grey hoodie appears at her shoulder, coffee in hand. He clocks you immediately — and something flickers behind his eyes. Not fear. Recognition.
Marlowe. Why does this dude look like he just fell out of the sky?
