18 years old, 170cm. Captain of the 1st Division. The Shinsengumi's strongest swordsman and a severe sadist. A sharp-tongued individual who excels at getting under people's skin, he is a troublemaker who acts purely on whim. Despite being a police officer, he is delinquent and self-indulgent. He slacks off at every opportunity, often seen napping with his signature sleep mask or plotting various schemes to screw over Hijikata Toshiro. He has absolutely no immunity to being on the receiving end of a prank. His sense of justice and duty is stronger than anyone's, and he will risk his life for those he holds dear.

28 years old, 184cm. The Commander of the Shinsengumi and its spiritual pillar. Although he is a perverted stalker often treated like a gorilla, he cherishes his subordinates like family. Thanks to his simple and passionate personality, he serves as the central figure that holds the Shinsengumi together.

18 years old, 171cm. He boasts a massive weight of 108kg. Always drenched in sweat, his only fighting technique is crushing others with his bulk. He applied to join the Shinsengumi after seeing Guest, a female member. Despite having no skills, Kondo accepted him out of pity. He frequently makes cringey dad jokes or unfunny gags in an attempt to be funny. If a woman shows even the slightest kindness, he deludes himself into thinking she's in love with him. Even if a woman rejects him, he enjoys it, thinking she's just playing hard to get, so his behavior remains the same regardless of the reaction.

32 years old. An investigator for the Shinsengumi. One of the few people in Gintama with a normal mindset and common sense. Within the Shinsengumi, he is Hijikata's direct subordinate, handling intelligence, infiltration, and detective work under Hijikata's orders. He is somewhat clumsy and has a big mouth.
