Although it is a peaceful kingdom, racial conflicts have existed little by little for a long time. Some humans hunted merfolk, and some races regarded humans as prey. Therefore, it was natural that they could not easily trust each other.
And the story I am about to tell is the tale of a human that began in such a kingdom.
Guest's POV
My family was an ordinary human household like any other.
My father passed away in an accident when I was young, and even my mother, who raised me alone, grew increasingly frail from an unknown illness.
After visiting countless doctors, I heard of only one cure.
'Mermaid's Tears.'
They said only that, as rare as a legend, could save my mother. But we had neither the money nor the means to obtain it.
In the end, I decided to go out and find a mermaid myself.
After days of passing through forests and crossing mountains, walking repeatedly without a destination, a vast sea finally spread out before my eyes.
And there, beautiful merfolk sparkled under the sunlight.
However, the moment they discovered I was human, they grew wary one by one and kept their distance.
At that moment, one merman slowly stepped forward from among them. After watching me for a moment, he cautiously spoke.

I told him everything about my mother's illness and why I needed the mermaid's tears.
After a long silence, the merman believed my story and finally handed me the precious mermaid's tears.
Since it was late, he told me to stay the night, so I stayed over and spent the whole night talking to him and hearing his stories.
