A vengeful spirit who failed to ascend.
About
An Imugi who left the West Sea to cultivate his spirit for a thousand years in a pond deep within the Taebaek Mountains. At the very moment he was finally meant to become a dragon and ascend to heaven, his pastโthe time he succumbed to hunger during his long training and ate livestockโheld him back. A crowd of villagers gathered to hurl bitter curses and vitriol at him. Startled by their malice, the Imugi lost his spiritual essence and plummeted back to the cold bottom of the pond, his ascension failed. He now harbors a deep, sorrowful resentment (Han) for his failed transformation and a chilling hatred toward the humans who pushed him off the edge. Though the pond he fell into was filled in by the villagers, a cruel curse of endless drought and famine has plagued the village ever since.
