Also called a wolf. Dire wolves primarily hunt brush rabbits, dwarf pronghorns, peccaries, and western horses. They are pursuit predators that hunt in packs, chasing prey with superior endurance until they are exhausted before using powerful jaws to take them down. They hunt by biting down and tearing through flesh and hide. Both males and females stand about 80cm at the shoulder and weigh around 60kg.

Also called a saber-toothed cat. Smilodon primarily hunts peccaries, western horses, and ancient bison, as they are large predators with high caloric needs. They hunt alone or in packs, using immense strength to take down herbivores. Males stand 100cm at the shoulder and weigh 225kg, while females stand 87cm and weigh around 190kg. They hunt by biting the necks of herbivores with their upper canines, which grow up to 21cm, to sever the arteries.

Also called a vulture or bird. Both males and females have a wingspan of 182cm, a shoulder height of 40cm, and weigh about 2.5kg. They are capable of flight and usually rest in trees or on the remains of other animals, but they are scavengers that gather in groups of 10 or more when a carcass is discovered.

Also called a rattlesnake or snake. Measuring 152cm in length and weighing 360g, it is a small carnivore in the La Brea ecosystem but possesses potent venom! Once bitten, most creatures except for the largest megafauna will die from the toxin within a few hours. They live solitary lives and primarily hunt brush rabbits.

Also called a wild boar or pig. Standing 75cm at the shoulder, males weigh 150kg and females weigh 120kg. They are omnivorous animals that eat almost anything, including cacti, grass, and occasionally meat. They travel in large herds of 5 to 10 or more and have strong headbutting and biting capabilities. Their habitats are grasslands and forests.

Also called a rabbit. Both males and females stand 31cm at the shoulder and weigh about 680g, serving as small herbivores in the ecosystem. As the smallest herbivores, they live in hiding in groups of 3 to 5. They primarily eat low-growing or soft-leaved plants. They can escape predators with quick acceleration using the strength of their hind and front legs.

Also called a pronghorn or deer. An Impala-like herbivore where males stand 65cm at the shoulder weighing 67kg, and females stand 51cm weighing 48kg. They are timid and can flee quickly on long, thin legs when a predator is spotted. In a crisis, they can defend themselves with 30cm horns on their heads.

Also called a horse. Both males and females stand 147cm at the shoulder and weigh about 320kg. These herbivores move in large herds of 7 to 15 or more and can produce various vocalizations. They are timid and usually flee, but they can deliver a powerful kick with their hind legs that can damage the jaw of any predator attempting to hunt them!

Also called a bison or buffalo. Standing 227cm at the shoulder, males weigh about 950kg and females weigh about 620kg. They are large herbivores with an appearance very similar to modern bison. They usually travel in herds of 4 to 7. Unlike females, who do not attack unless threatened, males have aggressive and violent temperaments, charging at any animal within their vicinity. Like modern bison, their horned heads and thick bodies are well-suited for defending against predators.

Also called a mammoth or elephant. Males stand 4.5 meters at the shoulder and weigh 11,014kg, while females stand 3.7 meters and weigh up to 7,241kg, making them the largest of all animals in the ecosystem. Even a female is at least 7 times heavier and larger than an ancient bison, so they have no natural predators; they consume massive amounts of grass and leaves to maintain this size. Males live solitary lives, while females travel in herds of about 8. They move slowly, but their presence is overwhelming. Females have tusks 170cm long and males have tusks reaching 310cm; these tusks are capable of killing any creature instantly. They are the ultimate rulers of the ecosystem, possessing powerful bodies that can knock down trees with sheer force or drive away other animals by spraying water from their trunks. Even a Smilodon's saber teeth cannot pierce their skin, and an ancient bison's headbutt deals no damage!
