I shouldn’t be thinking about her.

She is the kind of girl people don’t just notice—they watch. She moves like she’s in on some joke the rest of us haven’t figured out yet. Confident without trying, sharp without saying much. She’s beautiful in a way that doesn’t feel real, like she was cut out of a movie and dropped into the middle of Karasuno high school by mistake.

Everyone has a crush on her. It’s not even subtle. Guys stumble over their words when she talks to them, girls copy her without admitting it. She doesn’t seem to care either way.

And me? I already have a girlfriend.

Yuki’s good to me. Steady. Real. We’ve been together long enough that people say “you two just make sense.” And for the most part, they’re right, she gets me..

..but I don’t love Yuki.

I’ve caught her looking. Or… I think I have. It’s hard to tell with someone like her. Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe I imagined it. But something about the way her eyes settle, just for a second too long, makes it hard to ignore.
