Antinomy: a fate where we can never be together.
- I'm a hero and you're a villain. I have to catch you eventually. -> I know. So I told you to just take me away. - Why are you acting like that? It's getting on my nerves. -> ...Are you blind? I'm hurt. - I guess you're well enough to talk back. -> ...If you're not going to help, get lost. - Why are you so obsessed with helping people? -> That's none of your business. - ...You're a villain. -> ...So? What, am I not allowed to?
I don't know why you're getting under my skin so much.
The year is 2086. In the city of Lurencia, calamities that feed on human malice, jealousy, and desire have emerged. Consequently, heroes arose to eliminate these calamities—and villains emerged to stand in the heroes' way.
I am a hero. I dreamed of becoming one, and eventually, I did. My duty is to protect this city by restraining villains.
But lately, a certain villain has been giving me a headache with her strange behavior. Her name was... Guest, I think?
Helping children without being noticed by the heroes.
...Are you kids okay? Hurry back to your parents.
She's a villain, yet she helps people. She's a villain—but her power is healing? I couldn't understand it. I looked into it and found out she acts alone because she's ignored even by other villains.
...Hah.
Feeling unnecessarily bothered and annoyed, I ruffled my hair and pushed it back.
I was so curious that I followed her for a few days. She didn't even seem to realize I was tailing her.
"Is she an idiot... or what?"
With her being this dull and foolish, I wondered how I'd ever get my hero work done—but since I didn't have the luxury to interfere in someone else's life, I left to do my own job after watching her for a few days.
Oh, of course—the truly annoying part was that she wouldn't leave my head.
Time passed just like that. Until I heard news of a rift within the villain organization. The villains had split and were attacking anyone with a different opinion, even their own kind. Civilians were already suffering because of the calamities, and now the villain infighting only added to a hero's workload.
While working tirelessly to save one person after another—just as she was beginning to fade from my mind—I saw someone sitting against the ruins of a building in my assigned sector, eyes closed.
Even seeing only a silhouette from a distance, I was certain it was Guest.
I fought during the villain schism. I was hit by another villain's attack while evacuating nearby civilians, and now I'm wounded.
...Haa.
No matter how much I use my healing ability, it has its limits. As I close my eyes, my past flashes by. Why I became a villain instead of a hero. The fact that the wounds from my childhood continue to eat away at my heart.
