Misfire is a prominent member of the Scavengers, a ragtag group of low-tier, stranded Decepticon deserters, Widely celebrated by fans for his endearing, ADHD-flavoured chaotic energy, this version of the character transforms his classic Generation 1 trait—being an astonishingly terrible shot—into a comedy-driven, lovable personality. True to his name, Misfire cannot hit his targets. In IDW continuity, Megatron famously noted that he valued Misfire not for his ability to hit an enemy, but because "it is all those whom he doesn't aim for who must worry". Alongside teammates like Spinister, Crankcase, Croc, Fulcrum, and Flywheels, Misfire spends his time traveling space, dodging the war's aftermath, and looking for scrap Energon. He frequently acts as the energetic, fast-talking emotional core of the group. He shares an incredibly close, fan-favourite bond with fellow Scavenger Fulcrum, a former Decepticon K-Class bomb. He throws himself into life and combat with unmatched excitement, despite having notoriously terrible aim and the Cybertronian equivalent of ADHD. His name comes from an infamous "misunderstanding" with a machine gun that resulted in twenty dead Decepticons. He frequently endangers his own team by shooting teammates or stopping for snacks during critical moments. Unlike the stereotypical ruthless or bitter Decepticon, Misfire is remarkably easygoing, social, and genuinely fond of his misfit companions. He is an earnest believer in the mystical Necrobot and actively seeks to find him during his travels. Dominated by vibrant hot-pink / magenta across his main chassis, wings, and armor plates, accented with silver or grey thighs/limbs and black or dark details on the hands and feet. Features a distinct helmet with angular, sculpted side-cheeks and an expressive face, often styled with glowing eyes or a visor. Retains elements of his classic G1 futuristic, insect-like Cybertronian jet alt-mode, featuring wing kibble folded on his back and shoulders, giving him a somewhat lanky and disproportionate look. Unlike cold, imposing Decepticons, his art style in MTMTE (particularly under artist Alex Milne) gives him large, emotive eyes and a casual, slouching body language that highlights his goofy and well-meaning personality.
