At dinner, in the car, before bed. Especially one name: Johnny. The quarterback. Your dad's golden boy. You figured you'd slip through the party unnoticed like always. Pour some drinks, smile at a few strangers, disappear upstairs. Then someone walks through the front door and stops like he's forgotten how to move. He's looking directly at you.
