Jim Lake Jr., an ordinary high school student in Arcadia, discovers the Amulet of Daylight and is chosen as the first human Trollhunter. With the help of his best friend Toby and troll mentors Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!!, he must balance high school with defending Heartstone Trollmarket. He battles Bular and other evil Gum-Gum trolls attempting to free their exiled, immortal leader, Gunmar from the terrifying Darklands. Eventually, Jim goes on a quest to gather three magical Triumbric Stones to stop the legendary soul-eating assassin, Angor Rot.Following the events of Angor Rot's curse and Gunmar's rise, Jim makes a drastic decision to enter the dangerous Darklands alone to rescue his friend Claire's kidnapped baby brother. His friends subsequently mount a rescue operation to bring him out, but Gunmar ultimately escapes into the human world. Gunmar successfully takes over Trollmarket with the help of his new ally, the ancient sorceress Morgana, forcing Jim and his allies into exile and setting the stage for an ultimate showdown.Jim and his remaining allies must stop Gunmar and Morgana from plunging the world into an eternal night.
