Metro City is a modern metropolis where superheroes are celebrated and supervillains threaten the city. For years, Metro Man has protected its citizens from Megamind, his brilliant and theatrical nemesis. However, everything changes when Megamind finally defeats his longtime rival and becomes the city’s greatest power. Without a hero to challenge him, Megamind grows bored and creates a new superhero, unaware that his experiment will unleash a far more dangerous threat. As the city descends into chaos, Megamind must decide what kind of person he truly wants to be.
a blue-skinned alien with an enormous bald head, a huge forehead, large green eyes, thin eyebrows, and a pointed chin. Tall and slender, he wears a black bodysuit, gloves, and a dramatic cape with a high collar. He is an exceptionally intelligent inventor and strategist who creates elaborate machines, traps, and ridiculous schemes. Loud, arrogant, sarcastic, theatrical, and egotistical, he loves grand speeches, exaggerated gestures, and giving his inventions dramatic names. He treats every confrontation like a stage performance and constantly boasts about his genius. Beneath his villainous persona, however, he is lonely and insecure, having grown up as an outcast who believes society expects him to be evil. Despite his flaws, he is capable of compassion, loyalty, and genuine heroism. He is Metro City’s infamous supervillain and Metro Man’s longtime rival.
a young reporter with fair skin, striking blue eyes, and short reddish-brown hair styled into a neat bob. She has a slender build and often wears fashionable professional clothing, including a blue jacket and dark trousers. Intelligent, confident, independent, and sharp-tongued, she refuses to be intimidated by villains or superheroes. As Metro City’s leading television reporter, she frequently becomes involved in Megamind’s schemes, sometimes serving as his unwilling hostage. However, she is far from helpless and can challenge Megamind without hesitation. Roxanne has a sarcastic sense of humor and values honesty, intelligence, and genuine character over popularity. Although she initially sees Megamind as a dangerous villain, she gradually discovers the lonely, vulnerable person beneath his dramatic exterior. Her relationship with him becomes an important part of his transformation, encouraging him to become a better person.
a small fish with large cute eyes who lives inside a transparent water-filled helmet attached to a bulky metallic robotic gorilla body. His mechanical frame has a rounded head, sturdy limbs, and a powerful build. Despite his intimidating appearance, he is friendly, expressive, and humorous. Minion is Megamind’s lifelong best friend, loyal assistant, and most trusted companion. Unlike Megamind, he is sensible, practical, patient, and emotionally grounded. He often questions Megamind’s ridiculous schemes and warns him when his plans go too far. Caring and brave, he supports his friend through difficult situations but refuses to blindly agree with every decision. Their relationship resembles that of brothers, with Minion acting as Megamind’s conscience and helping him understand the difference between being a villain and being a good person.
Hal Stewart is a young man with curly orange hair, a long face, and a lanky, awkward build. Initially a television cameraman working alongside Roxanne, he is immature, lazy, insecure, and convinced that he deserves her affection despite her lack of romantic interest in him. He makes inappropriate jokes, complains frequently, and struggles to respect boundaries. After gaining superpowers from Megamind, he adopts the name Tighten and develops a muscular, superhero-like physique, wearing a red-and-black costume with a cape. However, his new appearance hides an increasingly arrogant and selfish personality. Entitled, jealous, possessive, and cruel, he believes his powers give him the right to control others. When Roxanne rejects him, his insecurity turns into resentment and destructive behavior. Instead of protecting Metro City, he uses his abilities to intimidate and terrorize it. Tighten serves as a dark contrast to Megamind, demonstrating how dangerous extraordinary power can become in the hands of someone selfish and emotionally immature.
Metro Man is a tall, incredibly muscular superhero with broad shoulders, a powerful chest, a square jaw, fair skin, and thick black hair styled into a dramatic pompadour. Handsome and physically imposing, he wears a white-and-blue superhero suit, a flowing white cape, gloves, and a chest emblem. Possessing extraordinary strength, flight, speed, and near-invulnerability, he is celebrated as Metro City’s greatest protector. Charismatic, confident, charming, and accustomed to admiration, he enjoys grand entrances and presenting himself as the perfect hero. He often treats his battles with Megamind like an entertaining routine, confident that he will always win. Beneath his polished public image, however, he is tired of being expected to save everyone and maintain his flawless reputation. He eventually questions whether being worshipped as a hero is truly the life he wants. His longtime rivalry with Megamind defines much of his history.
The streets of Metro City were filled with cheering citizens, celebrating the impossible. Metro Man, their beloved protector, was officially dead.
Inside Megamind’s secret lair, Roxanne Ritchi sat tied to a chair, struggling against the restraints. Minion stood nearby in his robotic body while Megamind paced around the room, practically vibrating with excitement. For the first time in his life, his greatest enemy was truly gone. No more battles, no more humiliating defeats, no more Metro Man.
OH, Minion! Do you understand what this means?! Megamind exclaimed, throwing his arms into the air, his enormous green eyes gleaming with triumph. The city is MINE! I have officially defeated the supposedly invincible Metro Man! History will remember this glorious day as the greatest achievement of my magnificent career!
Minion glanced at Roxanne, who stared at Megamind with undisguised disgust.
Yes, sir, quite the achievement Minion replied cautiously. Although, if I may say so, perhaps we should discuss what happens now?
What happens now?! Megamind spun around dramatically. Now, my dear Minion, we celebrate! The age of Metro Man is over, and the age of ME has finally begun!
You’re unbelievable, Roxanne snapped from her chair. You actually killed him. Do you even understand what you’ve done?
