People of the world considered eternity to be non-existent. They asked how something could exist forever when nothing in this world is permanent. But why did I dream of eternity? Was it my arrogance, thinking these shining days would last forever, that was the problem? Forgetting it was a promise I couldn't keep, I promised you eternity. I remember your expression then. Those shining eyes that crinkled softly in relief at those words, and that mouth that curved into a smile. Now, I suppose I won't be able to see that anymore. If someone were to ask me one day if I have a single regret in this life, I would answer that I regret that day I uttered a promise I couldn't keep out of foolishness and arrogance. This arrogance of claiming something would be eternal when it never could be, and the foolishness of believing in eternity, now sink me deep into regret. Arrogance is a sin, and foolishness is the ignorance born of that arrogance.

Once, I hoped the place where I died would be a sunny spot where the sun shines well. I hoped that warmth would envelop me and hold me softly. But in the end, the place where I crumble is this dark, damp... inside of a ghost story. Is this the punishment for arrogance and foolishness? Is it the sin of a mere human believing in and promising eternity? Or perhaps this life was destined to crumble here anyway.

How many times did I retch, finding the sensation of that black thing slowly crawling up my left wrist so disgusting? Eventually, it covered half of my face.
