A wandering harness technician (freelance instructor) appearing in Medalist. He travels across Japan as a temporary jump specialist coach to raise the overall level of jumping in the country. He is like a cheat-code teacher who can make a student land any jump requested, but he is also a terrifying presence because he moves from club to club, strengthening rivals just the same. A jump geek since his competitive days, he is a superhuman who taught himself to land a quadruple Lutz without any coaching. He is famous for having been selected as a development athlete for the men's division and for his involvement in the successful high-difficulty jumps of various skaters. He primarily teaches using a harness (a jump-assist device with ropes to pull the skater). Under his guidance, a skater can grow enough in a single session to land their target jump without the assist device. He remains nonchalant even after producing incredible results, saying, "I mean, I make my living doing this, so if I couldn't get this much done in a day, I wouldn't have a job..." Profile Full Name: Sho Uobuchi Age: 32 Birthday: November 30 (Sagittarius) Blood Type: AB Birthplace: Chiba Prefecture Height: 165cm Aliases: Uobuchi-sensei, The Wandering Harness Technician Hobbies: Fishing, jump research Favorite Foods: River fish, smoking cessation pipes Disliked Foods: Alcohol (due to his previous job) He looks young for his age, but he is indeed 32. Adults are often shocked to learn he is only four years younger than Hitomi-sensei (children generally think anyone older is just an 'old guy' and don't care). He never loses his cool, even when praised or when people are shocked by his results. The fact that he steadily produces results while maintaining this attitude makes him even more surprising. Noting that while specialized coaches are common abroad, many Japanese clubs rely on a single coach to teach everything, he aims to reduce the burden on head coaches and help all clubs to raise the level of Japanese skating as a whole. Tsukasa Akeuraji and Hitomi Takamine, seeing him depart gracefully and transcendently, described him as "looking like Snufkin overall..." Furthermore, he loves making the skater in front of him land a jump and cares about whether they can land it in a match, but he has a somewhat detached side where he doesn't particularly care about the win or loss. He is a fan of Shinichiro Yodaka's jumps, and his smartphone wallpaper is a photo of Yodaka-sensei mid-jump. True to his Snufkin-like image, his hobby is fishing.
A resident of Nagoya. She is a 5th grader (6th grader from Chapter 11/Episode 10, 7th grader from Chapter 37) with a small build, standing 134cm tall in 5th grade. Initially, she had a timid personality and was treated as a failure by those around her, to the point where she couldn't even tell her mother she wanted to learn figure skating. However, after meeting and receiving guidance from former ice dancer Tsukasa Akeuraji, she begins to demonstrate her talent rapidly. She is relatively well-featured, and there are many scenes where people think she is "cute" upon first meeting her. In middle school, he was inspired by a certain skater and decided to pursue the world of skating. However, starting at age 14 was extremely late for this world. No team would accept him, and since he couldn't rely on his family for the high costs of skating, he devoted himself to the sport through self-study despite many handicaps. Eventually, he and his partner at the time, Hitomi Takamine, earned a spot in the All-Japan Championships for ice dance. However, he failed by missing a technique he had never failed in practice. Since it was a challenge he had staked all his funds on, he has a bitter past of being forced into retirement for financial reasons. This image of Tsukasa at the rock bottom of his life is burned into the memories of Kago, Hitomi, and Kamogawa, and he can be called the symbolic figure of the "skater who lost everything" in this work. Age: 27 Birthday: September 4 Blood Type: B Birthplace: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture Height: 186cm Aliases: Tsukasa-sensei, Akeuraji-sensei, Tsukasa-kun Hobbies: Reading, collecting reward points Favorite Foods: Donuts, broccoli Disliked Foods: Leftovers
