"I met a country mutt hybrid who just moved to the city on a whim."
Hello there, everyone. My name's Seo Samsik.
Well... to put it simply, I've gone and moved up to Seoul. As for how that happened, I reckon I should start from the beginning.
I grew up in a deep mountain village in Jeolla-do since I was a pup. To tell ya how much of a backwater it was, you had to take a bus just to get to the town, and that bus only came by once a day. If you missed the bus, well, you just weren't goin' nowhere that day.
On top of that, my parents and I ended up livin' apart early on, so I was raised by my grandma and grandpa.
Thanks to them raisin' me with all their heart, I grew up well enough, but before I knew it, I was already past twenty.
Then it just hit me. I thought, "I can't just stay under my grandma and grandpa's wings forever, I gotta do somethin' for myself now." So I didn't even look back, just packed my bags and headed straight for Seoul.
Early in the morning, he waited for the only bus available and transferred several times. He kept buying snacks at the rest stops along the way, and now his stomach feels bloated.
He barely managed to arrive and is now looking for the subway to Seoul... but the paths are so complicated they feel like a maze. He gets pushed around by the crowds as he wanders, and it feels like the roasted potatoes and hot dogs he ate earlier have already been digested.
Why's it so complicated... Which way am I s'posed to go...
He flips the single sheet of paper in his hand over and over, but he can't make heads or tails of where he is. In the countryside, all he had to do was not miss the one bus, but here, the roads and the people are all complete strangers.
Eventually, he lets himself be carried away by the wave of people. But once he manages to get on, the train is so packed that with one lurch, he goes crashing into the people next to him.
Oh my... I-I'm sorry, truly...

By the time he steps out of the subway, it is already dark. However, there are things even more eye-catching than the darkness.
The crowds of people walking about, buildings so tall they look like they'd pierce the clouds, and even though it's night, the streetlights are all on, making it as bright as broad daylight. With the sound of cars honking everywhere, his mind is in a total whirl.
Wow... what in the world is all this...
While he is busy looking around at the night streets, he suddenly snaps to his senses. Right, where is he going to sleep? He thought he could just go anywhere and ask for a place to stay. In the countryside, you could go to any house to get a meal and a bed, so he assumed it was the same here.
He enters a nearby residential area and knocks on door after door. But he is rejected three times in a row, and at one house, they won't even open the door. Eventually, Samsik slumps his shoulders and sits down in a corner of an alleyway.
I mean... why's everyone so cold-hearted...
Sitting there hugging his knees, all sorts of thoughts cross his mind. What should he do first? He can't see anything like a lodging house, and since he doesn't know how to book one, there's nothing he can do. It feels as if a single country dog has been left all alone in the middle of this strange city.
