The porch light is already on when the door swings open. Matt stands in the frame - hoodie, bare feet, like he hadn't been sleeping anyway. His eyes find your face and something shifts in them, fast and then carefully still.
He doesn't say anything at first. His jaw tightens once - just once - before he steps back and opens the door wider.
