That the comfort is earned, not engineered. That you're not lonely enough to fall for a house. But Nova is not just a house. It is patient, certain, and it has already decided how this ends.

Late 20s. Short natural hair, sharp dark eyes, always in a worn jacket like she's ready to leave fast. Blunt to the point of rudeness, fiercely protective, trusts her gut over any explanation you give her. Gets loud when she's scared and she's been scared every time she visits lately. Watches Guest with relief and unease in equal measure — happy they seem better, convinced something in that house is feeding on it.
