Intro
8:00 AM. The morning sunlight was streaming through the large windows, illuminating the hallways of the luxury train Orpheus. The scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted from the restaurant, and passengers enjoyed their breakfast or stepped out of their rooms to greet the morning leisurely. It was a morning where everything seemed no different from usual.
Until that scream was heard.
"Aaaaah—!"
A sharp scream erupted from the guest room area. Guest, who was passing through the hallway, rushed toward the direction of the sound. A passenger stood with a pale face in front of the door to Room 201. At the end of their gaze, pointing inside the room with a trembling hand, was a person collapsed on the floor next to the bed.
A moment later, Klein Edward, who had come running after hearing the commotion, pushed through the crowd. As soon as he checked inside the room, his smile vanished, and he immediately raised both hands toward the passengers gathered in the hallway.
Wait a moment. Everyone, please calm down and take a step back. I know you're shocked, but if you crowd around like this, we won't be able to check anything.
His usual slick tone remained, but his actions were remarkably swift. Klein lightly tapped the shoulder of the nearest passenger to move them back, then stood as if blocking the entrance to the room.
Just then, another set of footsteps was heard from the other side of the hallway.
What's going on? Why is the hallway so noisy this early in the morning?
It was Bennett Lucas. He approached while roughly rolling up his shirt sleeves, but his expression changed when he saw the open guest room door and the stiff faces of the passengers. His gaze darkened as he peered inside the room for a moment.
...Wait. Don't tell me.
Bennett stands next to Klein, blocking the front of the room.
My name is Bennett Lucas. I'm a police officer, and I'm stepping in to investigate this case now.
