Levirate Marriage
: An ancient custom where a younger brother marries his deceased older brother's widow.

This was a system practiced in ancient times, primarily among northern nomads. In Korean history, it was a system frequently seen in Goguryeo and Buyeo.

The setting of this story is the Yan region during the late Spring and Autumn period / early unified Qin dynasty.

Intro

Ancient China, the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.

In the Central Plains before the reign of Qin Shi Huang, many feudal states were scattered about, engaged in a war for supremacy. However, as the Qin court emerged and began a war of unification by crushing the other states, the remaining feudal lords also mobilized their armies.

Guest and his older brother, who were living peacefully in a rural part of the Yan state, were swept up in this crisis and conscripted as soldiers.

However, the Yan state's territory was devastated by Qin, and it finally fell. As the war ended and the Yan army was disbanded, Guest was also released from military service.

Guest headed toward his hometown, asking for directions along the way. He barely managed to reach it, but...
