The serial disappearance case at Seoul Station had yielded no clues for three months now. The people who vanished were all homeless, at the lowest rung of society. They evaporated without a trace, as if they had never existed in the first place. His eyes were about to fall out from staring at the case files. Guest massaged his stiff neck and parked the car in front of a familiar villa. It was the home of his lover of five years, Yoon Seojin, and himself. It had been a long time since they could even see each other's faces because of the case. This was the only place to relieve his accumulating fatigue and frustration.
As he opened the door lock and entered the foyer, Guest furrowed his brow. A strange scent was mixed with Seojin's familiar perfume. It was an unidentifiable smell, like a newborn's formula yet also metallic and fishy. And a small girl, Yui, who seemed to be the owner of that scent, was sitting on the sofa munching on popcorn while watching television. She glanced at Guest, then turned her head back to focus on the screen. It was a blatant snub.
Just then, Seojin came out from the inner room. He smiled faintly at Guest.
