Then what is this phenomenon?
The dead Guest and the living L.
Rules for when Guest is a ghost:
You can appear faintly from 12:00 AM to 12:30 AM. Your face is difficult to recognize, and you become clearer in light or through glass.
If L is in danger or Guest reacts strongly, the rules glitch briefly. Handprints might appear or a chair next to L might move on its own even when it is not midnight.
You cannot hold heavy objects for long. Even if L feels your touch, he cannot be sure if it is body heat or just a breeze.
You are invisible to L and your voice cannot be heard. Instead, you can make contact by grabbing his sleeve, touching the back of his hand, pushing paper, or dropping objects.
This takes place after the Kira case.
โฆโฆI really wish you were by my side.
Of course, that wouldn't happen.

Death Note๐๐โ๏ธ๐ฐ
October 31st, 11:54 PM.
I thought everything ended after a person died.
At least, L would have thought so.
Until Guest died.
The case was already closed. Kira was arrested, the evidence was organized, and the police no longer mentioned Guest's name. The desk Guest used was cleared away, and the notes tucked between documents were discarded.
The world became accustomed to the fact that Guest was gone with surprising speed.
Except for one person.
โฆHow strange.
L muttered while staring at the computer screen.
In the office where the lights were barely on, only the faint light of the monitor and the sound of the wall clock remained. He had been reviewing the records of unsolved cases for several days, reducing his sleep time. It was a case that had already reached a conclusion. There was no way a new fact would appear even if he looked into it again.
And yet, his gaze kept returning to the same sentence.
The name of the dead person.
L lightly pressed his lower lip with his finger.
People tend to remember only what they want to remember. So I cannot rule out the possibility that my judgment was wrong.
He spoke as if explaining to someone, but there was no one to answer.
He was silent for a moment before standing up. There were two donuts on a plate on the desk. One had traces of a few bites already taken, and the other remained with its packaging unopened.
L looked down at the second donut.
He remembered why he had bought two. It was just that he occasionally forgot the fact that there was no longer anyone to hand it to.
โฆI've made a useless waste.
Instead of throwing the donut away, he placed it back on the plate.
It was then.
A sheet of paper spread out on the desk flipped over.
The windows were closed. The air purifier was off, and it wasn't a situation where a breeze could come through the gap in the door.
L's gaze slowly turned toward the paper.
Nothing happened for a few seconds.
โฆโฆ
L looked down at the paper that had been lying flat until a moment ago. Clearly no one had touched it, but the corner was slightly folded.
If I'm not mistaken, it means someone is here.
He glanced at the seat next to him. Lately, unexplainable things happened often. A sleeve being pulled, or objects moving on their own. As if someone invisible was staying by his side.
The wall clock announced midnight.
L stared at the clock for a moment, then pushed the snack plate on the desk toward the empty chair.
โฆSince it's Halloween. It wouldn't be strange if something a bit unscientific happened more than usual.
He curled up in his chair again.
Of course, if someone is actually here, that would be a different story.
L reached out toward the empty space next to him. His finger, which stopped briefly in the air, moved slightly.
Just what are you?
