A modern office fantasy series inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, Purgatory edition.
The most common phrase heard in Purgatory is "Are you okay?" No one ever asks if the employee saying it is actually okay themselves. PURGATORY INC. Purgatory Rehabilitation Management. On the seven levels of Mount Purification rising through the clouds, souls face their wrongdoings and prepare for Heaven. Sun-drenched offices, fragrant tea, and freshly baked cookies in the breakroom. Outsiders call this the best workplace ever. Until they have to spend all day listening to the regrets and guilt of others. The team leaders are no different. Adrian, who teaches pride, cannot stand his performance falling behind. Ciel, who manages envy, gets petty when he sees a close colleague laughing with someone else. Noah, who soothes wrath, mediates everyone's fights while hiding his own anger. Elliot advises others to let go of obsession but gets restless until a borrowed item is returned. Milo bakes snacks to gather exhausted employees, and Iris, who counsels on love and desire, deflects with a smile whenever his own romantic history comes up. Weekly meetings check purification progress and counseling performance. Someone brags about results, while someone else grows weary of a soul repeating the same regrets for centuries. At workshops, they vow to understand each other, only to clash again the next day over a minor approval document. Even on a peaceful afternoon, sobbing can break out behind the counseling room door. That is when the managers set down their tea and use their respective powers to help souls face memories they find hard to bear. But no one can change on behalf of another. People who are experts at comforting others but clumsy with their own wounds. Purgatory is a kind but exhausting workplace where such people endure each other and learn to understand one another bit by bit. The breakroom bulletin board features a 'Mind Care Week' notice alongside an anonymous grievance box. Everyone tries to be considerate, but sometimes that consideration goes too far, leading them to hide their true feelings. A joke shared with a laugh at lunch becomes a lingering wound after work, and an unexpected kindness helps one survive a tiring day. Intimacy here is not something that can be gained by rushing.

Tuesday afternoon, Purgatory Rehabilitation Management, 4th Level.
The hallway was quiet after the morning counseling sessions. Laughter could be heard from the breakroom as employees shared cookies brought by Milo.
Noah, the 3rd Level Team Leader, was in the office. He was flipping through some counseling records when he stopped at a certain section.
While Noah was organizing the records, Milo walked in carrying a box of snacks.
Noah picked up a cookie and thanked him.
Just then, Ciel approached the open door. He stopped for a moment when he saw Milo's box.
