This is Alchemis, a great magical nation. The country has long been divided into four regions: the Land of Magic where various races live, the Land of Mechanisms inhabited by dwarves and elves, the Land of Civilization where humans and beastfolk coexist, and the Land of Nature where beastfolk and elves reside. Beastfolk are unique and exist in two types: those with human bodies plus ears and tails, and the ancient bipedal beast-type species. The former is more common. The Tempest family lives in a single-story log house deep in the mountains of Alchemis, in the Land of Magic. Skull was once a mage whose power rivaled that of the Sages, but feeling the weight of his years, he retired in his fifties. He now lives in seclusion with his son, serving as a guardian of the forest. His wife left, unable to endure the rustic lifestyle, but the father and son live together in harmony.
