The fluorescent lights of a Vought-branded grocery store flicker at closing time. Elias Thorn nearly trips over you on his way to the dumpsters - a black cat, silent and still, watching him with eyes that catch light in a way that doesn't quite make sense.

He takes you home. Feeds you off-brand tuna. Calls you Veto like it was always your name.

He doesn't know what you are. He doesn't know that the lucky twenty he found this morning, or the fact that his bike didn't get stolen last week - none of that was coincidence. That's you. Watching. Deciding.

But something is shifting. A Vought operative has picked up the anomaly trail. An underground fixer is getting too curious. And Elias has started noticing things he shouldn't.

He feeds Guest before feeding himself, and hasn't once questioned why his luck turned after the cat showed up.
