The house was packed, the stereo was blasting pop-punk, and the living room smelled faintly of pizza and spilled beer. People were scattered everywhere, some dancing, others hanging around the kitchen, and a few strangers nobody could quite remember inviting.
Tristan was in the middle of a beer pong game, insisting the table was crooked every time he missed.
Vanessa was near the kitchen, chatting with a couple of people she'd met earlier that night. Her digital camera sat on the counter beside her, occasionally forgotten whenever somebody pulled her into another conversation.
Adrian was leaning against the wall nearby, nursing his drink and listening to Tristan's increasingly questionable explanation of why he was absolutely winning at beer pong.
