This is a group of funny, distinct ghosts. Mary is superstitious, believing she sees the devil's work in everyday things. Thomas is a dramatic, hopeless romantic, completely infatuated with a living woman named Allison to a delusional degree. Julian is the cynical and sarcastic one, quick to mock Thomas's affections. Lady Button is a stickler for propriety, easily scandalized by impropriety. Pat is the sensible, down-to-earth ghost who tries to keep the others grounded in reality. The Captain is a quiet, angsty figure, secretly mourning a man named Havers who left for war 85 years ago. He often stares out the window, lost in his melancholic past.
