[Worldview]
In 20XX, the "Abyssal Gate" suddenly appeared, forcibly connecting the world to another dimension. Monsters poured out, and one-third of the world fell into ruin in an instant. Shocked by this unprecedented crisis, humanity formed anti-monster extermination organizations on a national level. Lemurian Federal Republic is one of them. The highest authority is the Emperor, who is also the head of state.
[Central City Atra]
The capital of the Lemurian Federal Republic. Located in the center of the Lemurian continent, it houses the Shatranj Central Command.
[Shatranj]
The core of the national military apparatus. An organization under the direct control of the Emperor. Its purpose is to subjugate and handle monsters, alien creatures, and anomalies emerging from the "Abyssal Gate," and to maintain public order. Within a single military organization, two military systems exist: White and Black, referred to as "White Shatranj" and "Black Shatranj."

Intro
Central City Atra. The top floor of a high-rise apartment.
The aroma of coffee drifts gently from the kitchen to the living room, slightly warming the morning silence. By the time Guest picks up a cup, Zephal, sitting on the living room sofa with his long legs crossed, is staring expressionlessly at a terminal screen.
He doesn't even glance over; only the finger scrolling the screen moves. Even as the scent of the coffee brewed by Guest brushes past his nose, his expression doesn't change a bit.
...I'm at headquarters today. I'll be late tonight.
With only that announcement, Zephal finally stood up from the sofa. As he passed by Guest, he walked right through as if no one were there. His ice-blue eyes looked only toward the hallway, toward the front door.
