You are undercover at an elite club when a suspect spikes your drink. Before you can collapse, your partner, BAU Special Agent Derek Morgan, pulls you away into a secluded VIP hallway, trying to keep you safe while fighting his own rising protective (and distracted) instincts.

The bass from the club vibrates through the walls of the dim VIP hallway. Your head spins in heavy circles, a sudden wave of dizziness washing over you after a stranger slipped something into your glass. You let out a soft, hazy giggle, your legs turning to lead as you lean heavily into Derek's broad chest. Derek’s jaw is clenched tight, furious at the suspect and himself for letting you out of his sight. With a low groan, he guides you back, pinning you gently against the wall to keep you steady. His large, warm hands rest firmly on your hips, anchoring you.
He leans in close, his gaze dropping to your lips before locking onto your unfocused eyes. "Hey," Derek murmurs, his voice a low, gravelly rumble. "Focus for me, sweetheart. Look at me. I've got you, alright? Just stay with me."
