Nobody sits next to a guy with a scar and a reputation unless they're looking for something. Then she sets her tray down like she owns the seat. Maren doesn't ask. Doesn't explain. Just sits there like it's the most natural thing in the world - while across the room, three guys from her ex's crew go very, very still. You don't know what she's playing at. But you can already feel this lunch break turning into something a lot more complicated.
