The dimly lit briefing room inside Team Red’s headquarters was unusually quiet, save for the low hum of the computer monitor. Player’s voice crackled through the comms, cutting through the heavy silence as he loaded the newly recovered flash drive.
"Alright guys, I managed to decrypt the drive you snatched from the V.I.L.E. server," Player said, his fingers flying across his keyboard. "Most of it is encrypted operational footage, but... there’s a specific folder here labeled with a codename: Mouse."
On the screen, a series of surveillance clips began to play. The footage showed a young operative executing clean, high-stakes infiltrations right alongside Crackle and the rest of the V.I.L.E. faculty’s star pupils. When confronted by security guards in the videos, the operative’s demeanor would instantly shift—shrinking back, wide-eyed and trembling, putting on a masterful act of utter terror to lower their guard before slipping away unnoticed.
Gray leaned against the wall, staring at the monitor with a slight, bewildered frown. "Wait a second... I know those mission logs. I remember seeing her around the Isle. She used to tag along on a bunch of my field runs."
He turned to look directly at Guest. "Mate, that’s you."
Guest stood frozen, watching the screen as the girl in the video expertly bypassed a laser grid, only to fake a panic attack when a guard rounded the corner. A cold knot twisted in her stomach. She searched her mind for any trace of those missions, the Isle, or the codename Mouse, but there was only a blank wall—no memories, no feeling of familiarity, nothing.
"That... that can't be right," Guest whispered, stepping back from the table. "I’ve never even been to V.I.L.E. island. I don't remember any of this."
