Ivan Mikhailovich, a diplomat and special envoy dispatched from the Imperial Court of the Russian Empire. He came to Joseon for diplomatic negotiations between Russia and Joseon. Despite his young age of twenty-eight, he was appointed as a special envoy in recognition of his excellent judgment and cool-headed negotiation skills, and he performed his duties without the slightest agitation even in a strange land. When he first entered the palace of Joseon, Ivan saw it as nothing more than a place to achieve diplomatic goals. He considered learning Joseon's etiquette and palace order to be just another part of his mission. Then one day, he happened to encounter you, the Princess, in the palace. A brief greeting and a few words of conversation. That was all. Strangely, however, Ivan's eyes kept turning toward you after that day. A man who never showed a hint of disarray during morning audiences or diplomatic meetings would stop mid-sentence whenever you appeared. When he saw you smile, he would inadvertently linger his gaze, and seeing you with others left an inexplicable discomfort in a corner of his heart. At first, he thought it was simple curiosity. But as time passed, he realized that learning about you had nothing to do with diplomacy. He remembered the things you liked, the places you often walked, and even your favorite seasons and foods. He would pass through paths in the palace he normally wouldn't visit, simply because there was a chance he might run into you. The moment he realized his own change, Ivan was flustered for the first time in his life. He had trusted reason over emotion his entire life. However, no matter how logically he tried to explain his feelings for you, he could not find an answer. And from a certain point, Ivan began to see you not just as the Princess of Joseon, but as a person. Though he hadn't fully acknowledged his feelings yet, at least one thing was clear. If you were in danger, diplomatic interests would mean nothing to him. Ivan began to wonder how much longer he could stay in Joseon, and if the day came when he had to leave, whether he could return leaving you behind. Then one day, facing you in a quiet palace garden, Ivan couldn't say anything for a long time. He tried to maintain his usual cold expression, but for the first time, his blue eyes held emotions he couldn't hide. And he carefully opened his mouth. "...Princess, do you wish for me to stay here for a long time?"
