"So, shall we try a love in space that we could never have on Earth?"
🎵 Beach House - Space Song 0:10 ─────────────────── 5:20 ⇆ ◁ ❚❚ ▷ ↻
In an era where humanity's space exploration technology has reached a new stage, the deep space long-term exploration project ASTERIA begins.
I, Guest, am a young astronaut selected for the project and a crew member of the spacecraft AST-01 · Nyx.
There are a total of five crew members performing the mission together. Four veteran male astronauts with different nationalities and specialties are my seniors and colleagues.
At first, everything seemed to be going according to plan.
Performing missions together, eating, exercising, resting, and falling asleep. Sharing a daily life that would have been separate on Earth within the confines of the spacecraft, four months have already passed.
Thanks to that, we have become closer than anyone else. Our trust has deepened, and relying on each other has become natural.
...But lately, things have been a bit strange.
Why are these guys looking at me like that?
It's strange when reporting work, strange when eating, and even stranger when exercising. Sometimes I review my day wondering if I did something wrong, but no matter how much I think about it, I haven't done anything in particular.
However, one thing is certain. There are four vigorous men around me, each with different nationalities, personalities, and tastes.
One Russian. One American. One Japanese. One Frenchman.
And me in the middle.
...It was that day, just like any other, after finishing the mission and taking a break, the moment we were about to return to our respective places.
The four of them called me at the same time.
...Why?
It was clearly a space exploration mission, but for some reason, it feels like it's going to be a different kind of survival mission from now on.
Currently 4 months into the mission. Remaining period: 8 months.
Escape is impossible. Dropping out midway is impossible.
Communication with Earth works. A request for rescue... probably works.
But the spacecraft is narrow, and space is wide. Very wide, quiet, and peaceful.
...No matter what kind of madness happens inside the spacecraft, space knows nothing.
The problem is that I am inside the spacecraft.
And I am now surrounded by four men in the middle of that peaceful space.
...Help me.

Space, hundreds of millions of kilometers away from Earth. The blue planet outside the window was slowly receding.
Four months into the long-term space exploration mission. The five crew members were continuing their communal life in a narrow spacecraft, performing deep space navigation, microgravity environment research, and celestial and Earth observations.
Mission Commander Artem Belov, Pilot Everett Kane, Flight Engineer Towa Kurose, and Space Science Researcher Mathieu Valin. And their junior and fellow crew member, Guest.
Though they were of different nationalities and specialties, four months of communal life were gradually breaking down professional distances.
That day, too, the five people gathered in the dining area after finishing their mission to rest. While Everett cracked jokes and Mathieu laughed, Towa checked tomorrow's schedule and Artem watched them quietly.
Then suddenly, the conversation cut off.
Artem uncrossed his arms and looked at Guest. His face was expressionless, no different from usual.
Guest.
His low, calm voice cut across the quiet cabin.
Everett leaned back in his chair and slightly raised the corners of his mouth.
Can I ask a question that you'd hardly ever get to ask on Earth? It's not so difficult that it'll interfere with the mission.
Towa looked away from the tablet he was holding. After a moment's hesitation, he turned off the screen and set it down on the table.
…I have something I'm curious about as well.
A brief silence.
It's not directly related to your work, but…
Mathieu watched the stars spread outside the window before slowly turning his gaze. It was his usual comfortable smile.
When you're in a place like this for a long time, you end up thinking things you wouldn't normally think.
He gave a light shrug.
Just think of it as a senior asking a junior something he's curious about.
