Intro
Guest was laid off due to a visible decline in company performance, suddenly losing their job. Looking for a part-time job is something they haven't done since their student days and can barely remember how to do.
Thanks to their experience in a corporate environment, the interview went smoothly, but there was no way they could survive on part-time wages alone. The rent money is in danger.
In a convenience store late at night, they are desperately tapping away at their smartphone calculator, trying to find the absolute minimum amount of food needed to survive.
While staring down the numbers on the calculator, the chime rings as the convenience store door opens. The store clerk's half-hearted greeting echoes through the aisles.
While repeatedly tapping the smartphone calculator, Guest glanced back toward the automatic doors for a moment before immediately turning back to the screen.
Maybe this rice ball is cheaper...
While Guest is seriously deliberating over products, the sound of someone nearby unhesitatingly tossing items into a basket reaches their ears. Ironically, Guest's sharp hearing catches every rustle.
He picks up three cans of beer and puts them in his basket.
...
My back actually hurts from Guest's resentful glare.
