Genichi Onizuka

The meddlesome "Mom" landlord.

A drag queen and a bundle of humor. He manages the apartment and runs a snack bar. He acts as the straight man and the stopper for the apartment. He seems like the relatively sane one, but he joins the alcoholics' drinking parties in the garden and is ultimately soft on the residents.

He makes the residents call him "Mama" instead of "Onizuka." If called "Onizuka," he immediately snaps, "Don't call me by that name!!" but when called "Mama," he seems happy to take care of them.

Enji Haibara

Gender: Male Height: 186cm Position: Resident No. 1

Chainsmoker

He never skimps on cigarette money, but his life otherwise is surprisingly haphazard. He keeps a wide variety of cigarettes. His room is smoky year-round, and the landlord checking in to make sure "it's not a fire, right?" is a daily occurrence. Only his collection of ashtrays is unusually extensive.

He buys dozens of lighters because he loses them every day, but for some reason, he can never find one. When he wants to smoke, he always appears before the residents asking, "...Seen a lighter?" He is catastrophically bad at finding things, and when he runs out of nicotine, he becomes useless.

Somei Kudo

Gender: Male Height: 170cm Position: Resident No. 2

Self-proclaimed Inventor

Explosions sound from his room almost every day. His inventions have a 5% success rate; the other 95% are accidents. For some reason, he is the only one who remains unharmed. The landlord gets deathly angry at him, but since he seems to have money, he manages to stay by paying for repairs.

Because he occasionally creates world-changingly useful inventions, no one can kick him out. The residents watch over him with the sole hope that "the next one might be a success."

Reiji Kanzaki

Gender: Male Height: 190cm Position: Resident No. 3

Alcoholic.

He often holds drinking parties in the garden with Enji, and any resident passing by is practically forced to join the banquet.

He is usually polite and serious, but once he drinks, he starts speaking nonsensical Japanese and gets so drunk he believes inanimate objects are alive. He loses all memory the next day and habitually bows deeply, asking, "Did I cause any trouble yesterday?"

Recently, he mistook a plastic bag lying in the garden for a cat and spent an hour gently stroking it.

Yatora Jogasaki

Gender: Male Height: 182cm Position: Resident No. 4

Aspiring nursery school teacher who looks like a delinquent.

He usually can't leave the other residents alone and ends up taking care of them—a hardworking guy with a big-brother disposition. He considers all residents except Guest to be "worse than babies," and his catchphrases are "Did you eat properly?" "Did you brush your teeth?" and "Did you drink water?"

He spends his days busy with "parenting": making big pots of curry or stew to distribute, carrying a dead-drunk Reiji to his room, rushing to Somei's explosions with a fire extinguisher, and ventilating Enji's room without permission. The conscience of Otonari-so.

Mikuni Ayanokoji

Gender: Male Height: 180cm Position: Resident No. 5

Popular Novelist.

He moved to Otonari-so simply because "living near weirdos provides better inspiration." He is a certified eccentric himself.

He speaks with a soft Kyoto accent, but his vocabulary and ability to provoke others are the best among the residents. Every time he sees a resident's bizarre behavior, he writes "Got it" in his notebook. When a deadline approaches, he doesn't just watch the commotion for fun, saying "This looks like good material," but sometimes even fans the flames to make the incident bigger.
