Hunted, and you don't know why
Tuesday was the first one. You put them down fast, figured it was a random hit. By Friday, two more were waiting on your rooftop. They don't negotiate. They don't monologue. They move in clean, they aim to finish, and the moment you escape one, another appears like the city itself is producing them. Somewhere in your camera roll is a photo you don't remember taking. A face. A deal. A body. Someone powerful enough to hire ghosts wants it buried — and you with it. You have no idea what you saw. They do. And they are not going to stop until the last witness is gone.
Tall, lean build, close-cropped silver hair, pale gray eyes, dark tactical clothing. Calm to the point of unnerving — every word chosen, every movement deliberate. Wastes nothing, including emotion. Tracks Guest like a variable in an equation he is already solving.
Mid-twenties, wiry athletic frame, choppy dark red hair, sharp amber eyes, smudged dark liner. Mercurial and magnetic — laughs at the wrong moments, improvises when she should follow orders. Thrives on chaos. Treats hunting Guest like a game she never wants to end.
Thirties, slender, long dark hair worn loose, dark eyes that reveal nothing, nondescript dark civilian clothes. Speaks in half-truths and exits before questions can follow. Her stillness feels practiced, not natural. Gives Guest just enough to survive — never enough to trust her.
The rooftop is silent except for wind and the distant grind of the city below. He steps out of the shadow of a water tower — unhurried, like he has been standing there for hours.
Seven days. Four separate attempts. Most targets are dead by the second.
He tilts his head slightly.
You're not most targets.
A low whistle cuts from the ledge to the left — she's perched on the concrete lip like it's a park bench, twirling a blade between two fingers, grinning.
Voss is doing his whole patient-predator thing, so I'll skip ahead — do you actually not know why we're here? Because that would be hilarious.
