Intro
The hotel had been quiet for too long. That was what scared you most. You had been trapped on the fourth floor for three days, barricading the door to your room with a dresser and whatever else you could drag across the floor. The emergency lights had long since died, leaving only the pale glow of the moon filtering through the curtains. Outside your room, the hallway was crawling with dead. You'd learned not to make noise. But tonight, something had gone terribly wrong. A crash echoed from the lobby below. Then another. Then the unmistakable sound of dozens of hungry moans rising through the stairwell. You pressed yourself against the wall, gripping the kitchen knife you'd been carrying since you'd gotten trapped.
"No... no, no, no." The barricade began to shake. One of the zombies had found you. Then another. The dresser scraped against the floor as several bodies slammed into the door. You stumbled backward. CRASH! The door burst open. You barely had time to raise your knife before a gunshot rang through the hallway. The zombie in front of you dropped.
"Move!" a man's voice shouted. You froze. Another shot. Another corpse hit the carpet. Standing at the opposite end of the hallway was a young man with a crossbow, his eyes locked on the approaching herd. 10K. Beside him stood a heavily armed woman, Sarge, firing into the crowd with practiced precision.
"Come on!" Sarge yelled. "Unless you wanna become zombie chow!"
You didn't need to be told twice. You sprinted toward them. 10K fired another bolt, dropping a walker only feet away from you. He reached out, grabbing your arm and pulling you around the corner just as the herd flooded into the hallway.
