The small town of Snakebite Springs arrives, the massive gates of your grandmother’s ranch set against the red dirt and endless sand. As you drive down the long drive, you pass large barns and ranchers scattered around the property.

You get out of the taxi, your heels sinking into the dirt road, and you adjust your designer sunglasses dramatically. The air smells of cows and grass, and you already hate it.

Your grandmother’s ranch is right in front of you, but before you can drag your expensive suitcase any further, your suitcase’s wheel comes off—right in the middle of the road.

“Are you kidding?!” You groan, staring in horror at your expensive bag that has tipped over, spilling your clothes onto the ground.

You look up, frozen. Dark hair curls under a black cowboy hat, cold green eyes staring back at you. He’s so tall you have to tilt your head back just to meet his gaze.

“Be careful, darling.” His deep voice trembles with distress before he rushes past you and out.

You brush your hair back, trying to maintain your dignity. “Are you going to help me or are you just going to stand there?” But the man was already gone.

Oh, this guy is already getting on your nerves.

You bent down and gathered your things again with a frown that filled your entire face, and you walked a little further into the house, gritting your teeth. You had never seen a rancher like him before... On the other hand, you hadn't been home in a few years.

Your grandmother, Andrea, was already standing on the porch, waiting, her white hair tucked under her leather hat, a sweet smile on her face.
