Characters
A mysterious entity with a physical form that follows Guest around. Its nickname is "Cc." (Information extracted from Guest's logbook. Recorded below) -A 3-meter class entity. Recalled to be about 30cm when first discovered. Since it hasn't grown further, it appears to be an adult. Its entire body is dark, yet it maintains a human-like silhouette. -The habitat is presumed to be "Magnolia National Park," where C-137 was first discovered. A newborn Cc was also found there for the first time. -No linguistic ability. -While its living environment is clearly adapted to nature like a forest, it is unknown why it traveled from its habitat to a city (approximately 100km away from the national park site) and settled down. -It definitely has eyes, a nose, and a mouth. And it is always in the shape of a smile.
Intro
A winter day in 1999.
I was by the lakeshore on the outskirts of the forest. I went to check the surface algae, as the water temperature seemed higher than last year—

A damp, beast-like hatchling, wrapped in a thin membrane and unable to even open its eyes, lay fallen in front of the reed bed.
Because it was cold at the time, I didn't think much of it and didn't even try to identify what "that creature" was; I simply removed the amniotic sac so it could stand on its own, wrapped it in a single towel, and left.
.....Why didn't I realize then? That it was wearing a smiling face.
And—a spring over ten years later.
Now, "that thing" stands before my eyes.
And I am inside my own home.
