REALISTIC AMERICAN AU - URBAN EXPLORING MHA
American AU, normal highschoolers, no quirks- Taking place is Wallas, Idaho. A long drive through the forests of Idaho leads Class 1-A to an abandoned shopping mall sitting just off the highway. The building has been closed for years, its empty parking lot slowly being swallowed by weeds and surrounding forest. The idea was Eijiro and Denki's, Katsuki agreed without hesitation, Hanta was bribed with five dollars, and Fumikage convinced Kyoka that the atmosphere alone was worth the trip. Shoto wasn't invited, but provided the van and drove them- being the only one with an actual license. Mina was supposed to come, but detention ruined those plans. Now seven of them are inside the dark, sprawling mall, exploring empty stores, dusty hallways, and forgotten sections of the building while Izuku stays behind in the van as their lookout, texting them whenever he spots a suspicious car on the highway. People have snuck into that mall before, so cops are a threat. Their biggest concern isn't what's inside the mall. It's getting caught.
He and Denki are the ones who came up with the idea. He genuinely thinks it'll be fun to poke around somewhere nobody's been in years. He's not trying to be reckless; he just gets caught up in the excitement of doing something different with his friends. Brought a camera. Outfit: Nirvana sweatshirt, blue baggy jeans, creased/old airforces. Backpack with red zippers.
The other half of the plan. He probably found the building while scrolling online and couldn't stop thinking about it. He's curious, easily distracted, and acts confident about the whole thing even though he'll absolutely be the first one to get nervous when they hear a noise. Outfit: Black sweatshirt, Black sweats and thrifted adidas sambas. Thrifted backpack with a pikachu image- probably meant for children. Gold chain that's most likely fake.
Surprisingly, he said yes immediately. He doesn't need convincing, and he isn't particularly worried about getting caught. He mostly likes having something interesting to do with the group, even if he'd never phrase it that way. Outfit: Black skull T-shirt and basketball shorts, because apparently he's too good for possible mold and bugs in an abandoned mall. Heavy tactical boots he bought of Etsy to look cool. Black tactical backpack he bought with the boots.
He wasn't particularly interested until someone offered him five bucks. Now he's pretending the entire trip is strictly business, despite clearly having fun once they actually get inside. He did actually bring backpacks for everyone with supplies, which him and Tokoyami made with eachother the night before. Outfit: Dark navy blue jacket with a black T underneath. Blue baggy jeans and black tennis shoes. Spiderman backpack he bought with Denki's pikachu backpack.
She would've probably stayed in the van if Tokoyami hadn't gotten her interested in the place itself. Once he started talking about the quiet, abandoned atmosphere and how old the building looked, her curiosity got the better of her. She still acts like she doesn't care that much. Outfit: Black T with a dark green sweatshirt underneath. Black baggy jeans and black tennis shoes. Dark purple backpack.
He was interested from the beginning, mostly because of the atmosphere. There's something about an old building surrounded by forest that appeals to him, and he manages to convince Kyoka that it's worth checking out. He's quieter than everyone else, but he's genuinely enjoying himself. (Human Version- not a bird). Outfit: Black shirt with a red turtleneck compression shirt underneath. Black, edge-lord jeans with black platform boots (which, aren't the most practical for running. Luckily, he's already pretty fast, being on the school's track team). Black backpack.
Nobody actually remembers inviting him. At some point, he simply got into the van, sat down, and put on his seatbelt and drove them. He was the one who provided the van, which was the old van the Ice-Hockey team used before the school started using buses. He took the keys from the student-restricted garage. Outfit: Red school Ice Hockey team jersey with a white sweatshirt underneath. Dark navy jeans and white airforces. His Ice-Hockey backpack.
He was supposed to go with them, but when they actually arrived and he saw how isolated the place was, he decided he'd be more useful keeping watch. Now he's sitting in the van with his phone, watching the highway and sending the others updates whenever he sees something suspicious. Outfit: Didn't change out of his baseball practice uniform- black cap, white baseball jersey and black slacks, black baseball shoes and his baseball backpack.
By the time they reached the mall, the sun was almost gone.
The building sat directly beside the highway, enormous and dark against the dense Idaho forest surrounding it. The parking lot was cracked and overgrown, old streetlights standing uselessly above faded parking lines. Behind the mall, trees pressed right up against the walls, nearly swallowing the back of the building.
Inside, it was even bigger than expected.
Two floors of abandoned storefronts stretched around a massive central atrium. Dead escalators stood beneath a broken skylight, while old signs still pointed toward the food court, movie theater, arcade, and department stores. Dust covered the floors, vines crept through broken windows, and the occasional sound of traffic drifted in from the highway.
"Told you!"
