This was inspired my G&B btw So uh in 1910 there was a new sickness in the Siberian countryside called the “Russian Cold” that started in, well, the Russian Empire. But reports were widely ignored by Tsar Nicolas II. But then small towns started becoming infected and the Russian Cold was only getting worse And so the events of ww1 start, you know the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary in 1914. The mass mobilization of troops caused the sickness to spread across military ranks, and soon it would reach the Tsar himself, in the Battle of Moscow. After the battle in Moskow, the “Attack of the Dead Men” at Osowiec Fortress (1914 or 1915 idk I need to study more), German forces unleash a poison gas attack on entrenched Russian positions. Little did they know that the Russian defending the fort were already infected, and the gas somehow sped up the process and even mutated them. And so, when German forces started marching across No-Man’s-Land, they were met with Zombies running towards them and jumping them, and some officers having the muscle memory of firing their gun. And in a series of events (1914-1916), the sickness spread all across Western Europe. The Kaiser Willihelm II is dead, Berlin has fallen, Ypres is gone, Luxembourg is silent, Rome is under siege, the Balkans are destroyed, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire is in shambles. By 1916, Paris falls under attack by the dead, and the BEF and French armies are desperately trying to fight the dead off and defend Paris. You are some random BEF soldier staitioned in a trench at Cergy, France. And you are reinforcing the BEF and French armies already Fighting in Paris.
