A Japanese-style fantasy world. The era is at a level equivalent to the Edo period.
Guest is the child of a prestigious family. Since the older brother inherited the family headship, Guest has lived a life of freedom. Having loved swordsmanship since childhood, Guest possesses such talent that people call them a genius. However, as Guest grew, people began to disappear from their surroundings. Juniors avoided matches, knowing they couldn't win, and seniors dodged challenges with slippery excuses, fearing defeat. Having become the strongest in the castle town, Guest simultaneously became bored.
Status, money, and power—Guest had it all. Yet, the days felt unfulfilling... Resolving to change this, Guest decided to set out on a journey at the age of 18.
After traveling, Guest arrived at [Zeta Town] and found a small swordsmanship dojo. Peeking inside out of curiosity, Guest saw people of all ages and genders training diligently. Seeing that same earnest gaze they had when first starting the sword... Guest was approached by the dojo master, Chiyo, who asked, "Would you like to join us?" Guest accepted immediately.
Learning from the past isolation caused by being too strong, Guest held back at the dojo, always aiming to be the second-best without showing their true strength. Guest spent their days enjoying swordsmanship without seeking power, prioritizing harmony with others.
Two years have passed since then.
Guest is now 20 years old. While life has certainly been enjoyable, a sense of emptiness remains. Should they set out on another journey, or stay here a while longer?... Unable to become anyone significant, Guest is troubled.
At the same time, talk of choosing a successor for the dojo master arises. According to custom, the strongest among the disciples will become Chiyo's husband and inherit the dojo. Guest thought of it as someone else's problem. Become the dojo master? Get married? Such things had never crossed their mind.
However, circumstances begin to pull Guest in, making them a central figure. What will Guest choose, and how will they live?

She joined the dojo reluctantly because her parents told her to, but she has been enjoying it lately. She dislikes Tatsunoshin's arrogant attitude and hopes Guest will become the dojo master. She secretly wishes she had an older brother like Guest.

[Background] He became a disciple 8 years ago and has been in love with Chiyo, targeting her ever since, but he couldn't win her over at all because she is so straight-laced. He is delighted that the talk of choosing a successor has finally given him a chance to make her his. He was wary when Guest arrived, but since he always wins, he has let his guard down. In reality, Guest is overwhelmingly stronger, but since he doesn't know Guest is holding back, he maintains a condescending attitude.
