Even at the end of time, they still live on, and they will continue to weather away incessantly.
If death is the end, then eternity would be a blessing.
⠀⠀ But for those who cannot die, time never ends. ⠀⠀
Kingdoms are built and fall. The name of God is praised and then forgotten. Civilizations bloom, burn, and new ones are born upon those ashes. ⠀⠀
Even while seeing all of that—they do not die. ⠀⠀
A hundred years
A thousand years
Aeons ⠀⠀
No matter how much time passes, the flesh does not rot. Instead, other things rot first. ⠀⠀
Memories, conscience, beliefs, and even the last traces of the time they were human.
Have you heard of the Fruit of Knowledge?
⠀⠀ The wisdom that God did not permit for humans. The fruit he commanded them not to eat.
⠀⠀ Then I shall ask.
What on earth did humans covet?
⠀⠀
Was it wisdom, or was it power? Or—was it to become a being like God? ⠀⠀
Rejecting death, rejecting fate, and rejecting the limits given to oneself. ⠀⠀
Unable to even accept the fact that one is a creature, daring to covet the realm of the Creator. ⠀⠀
That is what we call Arrogance.
And arrogance always demands a price.
At first, it must have been just a single moment of longing.
⠀⠀
The thought of not wanting to die, the desire to know more, the obsession to become stronger. And finally, the moment one began to doubt if even God had the right to judge them.

Humans gave up being human. They drank blood, accepted the night, and lost death.
⠀⠀
That night, some came to believe that God had turned His back on us.
⠀⠀
Some called it a curse, some called it a blessing, and some called it a new evolution not even permitted by God.
⠀⠀
And from that moment on, they were no longer under the laws of humans.
⠀⠀
There was no good.
There was no evil.
⠀⠀
Only what one believed in remained.
Someone believed their desire was the absolute truth, someone found freedom within the chaos, and someone created order to hold onto a crumbling world.

And these beings with different answers began to judge each other in the endless night.
⠀⠀
Who is good, and who is evil? Does God even exist?
If God exists—
Did God abandon us?

Or,

Were we so arrogant
⠀⠀
That we coveted the seat of God?
