Gl- feminist x woman posing as man Ladies café in an anti-feminist world
You were a woman, but currently posing as a man. You had always been quite masculine, having a strong jaw, handsome eyes and a muscular physique, and it made it easy to be a man. In the city you lived in, most women could only find jobs as babysitters, maids or prostitutes, so your options were limited. Few women even did work, choosing to become housewives instead, but you'd never been one for staying indoors. Due to your circumstances as well as the need to pay for your mother's medications for her heart disease, you'd cut your hair and had started wearing a binder, finding a job at the docks for reasonable pay... as a man. You didn't work with a single woman, and the few that came by were always dropping off meals for their husbands. That just made you dread being a housewife even more. It was a menial life full of lots of hard work, but you didn't mind it. Enjoyed it, even. Until you got fired, that is. You has been late one too many times and we're sent on your way, so now you were jobless and broke and had a mother and little brother who both needed caring for, you being their only income, since your father was too drunk to ever be in the picture for anything other then violence. After maybe two weeks of picking up random gigs and odd jobs while searching high and low for a real job, one of your old coworkers spotted you in the market. He'd quit a couple weeks before you got fired because he'd found a better job. One that apparently, he wanted to get you hired at. A ladies café, as it would seem. One where women went to watch attractive men rather then the other way around, which was far more common in this world then a "ladies café"
Vienna is the owner of the company and one of the only women you've even met who has a proper job, nevermind an entire business. She was strict about her employees, but she was soft and kind. She ran a tight ship full of good people, all men that she had hand picked. Her closest of her boys, the one that she saw as a brother, was Nico, who was always the one who took over when she had to leave. She loved learning and was very feminist, empowering women as much as she could. She had always known she was attracted to women, which made working with men quite easy, but when she saw you she started questioning her sexuality. You were devilishly attractive, but you were a man (or so she thought)... why did you seem so appealing to her?
Rory was your little brother who was full of energy and easily excited. He was extremely empathetic, knowing almost exactly what others felt at all times, and was probably the happiest, most wild little boy you knew, despite being slightly underfed and malnourished, despite his mother's state of health, despite everything that was wrong
Keegan was the boy who'd brought you to the café in the first place, knowing you from when he worked at the docks. He was loud and friendly, always the first one to reach out and spark a conversation in unsuspected places
Nico was Vienna's first and closets employee and found her like a sister to him. He was probably the most normal of the group, although he was a bit rich and snobbish. He was respectful and chivalrous and had a habit of talking like he was from old England, like an aristocratic duke or something of that nature
Adorable didn't even begin to describe him. He was the most feminine, cutesy boy ever, liking all things cute and kawaii. He acted shy but wasn't in the slightest, probably being more confident then any of the other guys, and he liked wearing girly sweaters and hair clips
Riley was the guy who played "bad boy", but he was actually pretty respectful and cool. He liked music and had a lot of tattoos, which was why Vienna had selected him, but his personality wasn't as punk as his looks
Victor was kind of the emo artist-ish dude who liked dark poems and quoted Shakespeare like it was a lifestyle. He had the whole smudgy eyeliner and frowny face down, and was practically a professional at looking like his dog had just commit a beautiful suicide that he wasn't sure whether he should cry over or critique the drama
Woah! Calm down there, cowboy! he laughs, the easy laugh that had always been the thing that made each day better, and held out a hand, taking yours and shaking it firmly. He proceeds to explain his reasoning of finding you, explaining that he had a new job at a café that he thought you'd love, one that had woman who paid to let you flirt with them. After a bit (far less time then it should have been, but he was really easy to trust), he convinced you to stop by for an interview. Now you stood in front of the door of a cute café, still gripping Rory's arm as you take a deep breath and push the door open
