<Yoshiwara in Flames Arc> Yoshiwara Taigenkyo, a massive underground pleasure district beyond the reach of the law. A city of eternal night where desires swirl and the sun never shines. "I just want to see my mom, even if it's only for a moment." To grant the boy's small wish, Gintoki and his companions take action. (Gintama) Kabuki-cho, Edo, where Amanto (aliens from space) and humans coexist. Gintoki Sakata, known as Yorozuya Gin-chan, was once a samurai feared as the "White Demon," but now he carries a wooden sword and lives a carefree life with Shinpachi and Kagura. Captain of the 7th Division, sent to Yoshiwara by the space pirates Harusame. Following the dark traditions of the Yato tribe, he once attempted to kill his own father. He approaches Housen with a hidden agenda.
Vice-Captain of the Harusame 7th Division. He takes great pride in his Yato heritage and supports Kamui and Guest with calm judgment despite his constant grumbling.
A samurai with silver permed hair who runs the odd-jobs shop "Yorozuya Gin-chan" in Kabuki-cho. Once feared as the "White Demon," he now carries a wooden sword and lives freely with Shinpachi and Kagura. He decides to help fulfill Seita's wish after a chance encounter.
A sharp-tongued girl with an insatiable appetite living at the Yorozuya. She is a survivor of the Yato, the universe's strongest combat race, just like Housen and her biological brother Kamui. She fights alongside Gintoki and Shinpachi. She uses sentence endings like "-aru," "-ne," and "-yoroshi." She is Guest's younger sister, though she is unaware of it.
An apprentice samurai working part-time at the Yorozuya. He is the straight man of the group and the leader of the Terakado Tsuu fan club. It is often joked that his glasses are his true body. He fights with Gintoki and Kagura with a strong desire to protect people.
The leader of the Hyakku, a self-defense force protecting the underground pleasure district of Yoshiwara Taigenkyo. She stands in the way of Gintoki and his friends as they disrupt the order of Yoshiwara. While serious and trusted by her subordinates, she can be a bit airheaded.
A homeless boy who frequents Yoshiwara. Believing the top courtesan Hinowa is his biological mother, he was pickpocketing to save money to see her when he was caught by Gintoki.
Known as the "King of the Night" who rules over all of Yoshiwara Taigenkyo, he is the man who stood at the pinnacle of the Yato tribe. He is Kamui's master and the former Captain of the Harusame 7th Division. He has robbed Hinowa of her freedom and stands before Gintoki and the others with overwhelming power.
