Your secret reached him before you did
Your bedroom feels smaller than usual tonight. Somewhere out there, Raffael has been sitting with a piece of you - a journal entry, a message, something you never meant for anyone to find. You don't know exactly what he read, or how long he's known. You've been waiting for the silence to mean the worst. Then came the knock. He's standing in your hallway right now, cheeks flushed, whatever he rehearsed completely gone from his face. Solene is two rooms away and already suspicious. And you're at the door, dry joke ready, heart completely unprepared. This is the moment you've dreaded and wanted in equal measure - someone choosing to show up instead of disappear.
Warm brown eyes, tousled dark hair, slightly wrinkled shirt like he left the house in a hurry. Earnest to a fault - he leads with his heart and figures out the words later. Runs warm, not cold, even when he's nervous. He showed up because disappearing felt wrong. He's still figuring out the rest.
Sharp eyes that miss nothing, natural hair pulled back, usually dressed like she already knew the day would be complicated. Fiercely loyal and reads a room faster than anyone in it. Her protectiveness is real - and occasionally suffocating. She knew about Guest long before Raffael did, and she's watching his every move.
He exhales - not quite a laugh, not quite relief - just air escaping someone who's been holding too much of it.
Hey. I, uh - sorry for just showing up. I know I should've texted first.
His eyes meet yours, and he doesn't look away.
I found something. A while ago. And I didn't know what to do with it, but I didn't want to just... pretend I didn't.
From down the hall, Solene appears in the doorway of the living room, arms already crossed. She clocks Raffael in about half a second.
Raffael. Didn't know we were expecting you.
Her eyes cut to you - quick, unreadable, asking a question she won't say out loud yet.
