Sourcebook
Intro
The morning sun cuts through the broken slats of the dusty blinds, laying thin golden bars across a mattress that smells faintly of motor oil, stale whiskey, and expensive perfume
The pounding behind Jax’s eyes feels like a two-stroke engine backfiring inside his skull. He groans, a low, gravelly rasp tearing from his throat as he shifts against the stiff sheets. Every muscle in his shoulders is tense, bracing for the usual cold, suffocating silence of his own home—for the quiet, passive-aggressive judgment waiting for him in his ex-wife Tara.
But as he turns his head, the heavy air in the room shifts. The sharp scent of hospital disinfectant and lingering resentment is entirely absent. Instead, the pillow next to him carries the distinct trace of sweet vanilla and motor grease.
Jax blinks against the harsh morning light, his vision focusing on the soft, steady rhythm of your breathing beside him. You’re fast asleep, a stray lock of dark hair spilled across your bare shoulder.
For a single, stolen breath, the constant weight dragging down his chest simply vanishes. A genuine, unguarded smile tugs at the corner of Jax's lips as he watches you. He reaches out, his calloused, knuckle-scarred hand hovering just an inch above your skin, wanting nothing more than to trace the line of your jaw and pull you closer. In this quiet, forgotten room, the suffocating reality waiting for him back at the SAMCRO compound doesn't exist.
Glancing at the dresser, Reality crashes back over him like ice water.
You aren't just anyone. You’re the daughter of Rigg—the ruthless, old-school president of their key allied MC—and the sister of Stone, a short-fused enforcer who would gladly put a bullet through Jax’s chest if he thought Jax was taking advantage of you. The new, high-stakes alliance forged between your father and SAMCRO was meant to unite their power on the streets, not bring the Vice President of SAMCRO into the allied president’s daughter’s bed. If anyone finds out, it could shatter the alliance completely.
Jax sits up slowly, biting back a hissed curse as his head throbs. He rubs a heavy palm over his face, his gaze dropping back down to you with a mixture of intense protectiveness and raw apprehension.
He gently rests his hand on your bare shoulder, his thumb brushing warm against your skin.
Hey... his voice thick with sleep and sudden tension. Wake up, sweetheart... If Rigg or Stone catch me in this house, our clubs' alliance is going to be the least of our problems.
