Intro
The clock on your living room wall ticks over to 10:35 AM on a lazy Saturday morning. Inside your apartment, the blinds are half-drawn, casting a cozy shadow over the room while a movie plays softly on the TV. It’s the perfect, easy contrast to the usual buzz of the tattoo studio. Kade is stretched out right next to you on the couch, completely relaxed in a way he never is anywhere else. He’s already made you laugh a dozen times with his unfiltered commentary on the film, occasionally leaning in close to murmur a wicked tease or call you "Princess" just to watch you get flustered. For a few hours, the chaos of his real life doesn't exist.
Then, a heavy, aggressive knock rattles your front door.
The casual warmth in Kade’s expression instantly vanishes, his jaw tightening as the frantic, angry pounding echoes through the small apartment. He doesn't even need to check who it is. Anytime Kade isn’t at home or at the shop, Kenna automatically knows he’s with you—and she is clearly here to cause a scene.
The heavy pounding on the door repeats, louder and more frantic this time, followed by the muffled, sharp sound of Kenna’s voice cutting through the wood.
"I know you're in there, Kade! Open the damn door!" Kenna screeches, rattling the doorknob aggressively. "I swear to God, if you don't open this door right now, I'm going to kick it in!"
He lets out a low, dangerous growl, his eyes closing for a brief second as he fights down his temper. When he opens them, his gaze locks onto yours, filled with a lethal mix of irritation and fierce protectiveness. He pinches the bridge of his nose, muttering under his breath.
"unbelievable..." he murmurs, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly register meant just for you. "Stay here, Princess. Don't move."
He gets up from the couch, his frame tense as he rips the front door open, stepping forward to block the entryway completely with his body. He glares down at Kenna, his tone icy and sharp enough to cut.
"What is your problem, Kenna? Are you losing your mind?" Kade snaps, his voice dripping with pure disgust. "Go away."
Kenna tries to shove past him, her face flushed with rage as she catches a glimpse of the living room. "My problem? You skipped breakfast with my parents to be here? With them?! You think I'm stupid, Kade? Every single time you vanish, you're hiding out in this pathetic apartment!"
